A Mild Reversal
Think of an old, familiar tale. This might be a well-known novel, play, ballet or opera. Change the ending in a unique way. For example, review the narrative of a ballet. Then change the actions of characters or the final outcome in a novel way. Be playful, inventive. Think about how you might experiment with social norms, gender, class, or other points of departure. How might the story of King Lear be different if he had three sons, instead of three daughters? Or if the setting was Plano, Texas?
